Lo sparvieroOur forests of evergreen and deciduous oaks, chestnut, hornbeam, cypress and Mediterranean maquis consisting of erica, juniper, genista, holly, arbutus and lentisco are full of animals. It is not rare to meet boars, porcupines, deer, badgers, ferrets, martins, wildcats and squirrels. Birds of prey such as falcons, kestrels and eagles nest in high places. Woodpeckers and various types of owl can also be seen. Many wild herbs, such as thyme and helichrysum, and forest fruits are used in cooking: blackberries, arbutus berries, mushrooms and chestnuts.
